Prime Synthetic Solutions Ltd is a new identity, but our heritage runs back to 1967. When a system requires a tension member that won't corrode, conduct, weigh down a lift plan or interfere with a signal, the answer has often been the same product for over five decades: ParaFil™.
 

From defence and civil structural projects to transport networks and water utilities, our ropes and strapping systems have been specified across some of the most demanding engineering applications in the world. Many of those original installations are still in service today.

The manufacture of reinforced plastic composite materials was first established by ICI (Imperial Chemical Industries), the polymer engineering pioneer responsible for Terylene™, the world's first polyester fibre. Production was undertaken by Linear Composites Ltd, originally a wholly owned ICI subsidiary.
 

ParaFil™ was the first product fully developed by Linear Composites, in 1967. ParaLoop™, our continuous-loop synthetic strapping system, followed in 1982. Both have now been deployed worldwide for more than 40 years.

In March 2025, Officine Maccaferri S.p.A and PSS Global Ltd launched Prime Synthetic Solutions Ltd, a joint venture combining decades of engineering capability with renewed investment in product development, testing, and customer support.

We engineer high-strength polymer composites that replace steel ropes, titanium straps, and conventional polymer systems where traditional materials fall short. Our two core products:

ParaFil™: a parallel-fibre synthetic rope with a protective polymeric sheath. Used as guy ropes, structural cable stays, overhead line supports, offshore and onshore infrastructure and defence components.

ParaLoop™: a continuous-loop synthetic strapping system. Used for distributed buoyancy systems, piggy backing, structural retrofit banding, thermal insulation retention, and applications where welding is not permitted.

Both products are corrosion-free, electrically non-conductive, and effectively maintenance-free, with field-proven service lives in excess of 40 years.

How we work

We collaborate with engineers, designers, and procurement teams to develop products that solve real-world problems. A speculative phone call from a client has often opened that client's eyes to materials and configurations they didn't know existed, saving project time, weight, and cost.
 

Our on-site testing laboratory in Yorkshire enables us to effectively develop and refine bespoke products in a timely manner, which is essential in time-critical sectors like communications infrastructure, rail, and defence. We tailor mechanical, compositional, and geometric characteristics to match specific operating conditions.
